2017 Mock Draft v2

It's time for another update! This time I've included Scott (owner of Northern Cardinals) in the mock draft. Our names are in parenthesis. I'll kick us off by picking for Badgerhawks.

Things will inevitably change in the below mock draft. Picks will be traded, teams will move up and down. With that disclaimer out of the way, here is my best guess at what would happen if the 2017 CRFL draft were to start right this moment. As always, we base this fantasy mock draft on the reliable mock draft from WalterFootball.com, which will also inevitably change.

Badgerhawks is on the clock...

1.01. (Jeremy) Badgerhawks selects...RB Leonard Fournette NYJ (LSU)
Badgerhawks might have all the time in the world to make this pick, but it's unlikely he has much to think about. Same as the last mock, unless something crazy happens, Fournette is the clear #1 overall pick in dynasty/keeper rookie drafts.

1.02. (Scott) Juice Box Heroes selects...RB Dalvin Cook CAR (Florida State)
Heroes defeated Gem State late in the season. A shocking victory, but oddly enough a costly one. That victory meant JBH lost the #1 overall pick to Badgerhawks. No Fournette, but Cook is one helluva consolation prize. Some NFL scouts prefer Cook to Fournette.

1.03. (Jeremy) Huskerfan selects...WR Mike Williams ARI (Clemson)
Oh my. What a blunder of a trade by The Valley Bulls to allow Huskerfan into this #3 slot. Huskers don't really have a weakness at RB or WR, so I'll go BPA (best player available) here. Many scouts think Mike Williams can be an elite WR. Those are hard to come by in fantasy via the draft. Great value at 1.03

1.04. (Scott) Connell Conquistadors select...WR Corey Davis TEN (Western Michigan)
In comparison to Huskerfan, Conquistadors will also go BPA, but for an entirely different reason. Connell is weak at both RB and WR, so taking the best talent available is ideal. Davis would be the #1 WR in an offense that figures to be potent going forward. Excellent value at 1.04.

1.05. (Scott) Gem State Bruins selects...RB Alvin Kamara PHI (Tennessee)
In the 2016 CRFL Draft, the Bruins lucked into Corey Coleman falling farther than expected. A year later, the Bruins used Coleman to move up into this #5 slot in search of RB depth. Lucky for the Bruins, a 1st round RB is still available at 1.05. Kamara is skyrocketing up draft charts this winter.

1.06. (Jeremy) Huskerfan select...RB D'Onta Foreman TB (Texas)
The 1st round haul continues for the Huskers. They took Williams at 1.03, so I'm guessing he would balance things out and draft a RB here. Foreman figures to the bell cow for the Buccaneers in a backfield with a ton of inconsistency.

1.07. (Jeremy) Brucey's crew...WR John Ross SF (Washington)
At this stage in the draft, owners start picking the best player available instead of by need. It's debatable, but Ross would be the WR1 in Kyle Shanahan's offense, so I'm going Ross here.

1.08. (Scott) Wind River Bison select...RB Christian McCaffrey DEN (Stanford)
The Bison finally broke out! After years of being in the CRFL cellar, the 10-3 campaign came as a shocker. That said, after Doug Baldwin they still have a big hole at WR. Scott, however, thinks McCaffrey is too good a value to pass at this point. I agree, this is excellent value at 1.08.

1.09. (Jeremy) Range Lonestars selects...WR Curtis Samuel LAR (Ohio State)
The Lonestars, while finishing at 5-8, have rebuilt this poor roster in a very short time. A 2017 breakout is in store for this team, and their depth only gets bolstered by having this 1st round pick. They kick off using that asset on Samuel, who has big play potential in a Sean McVay's offense.

1.10. (Scott) Brucey's crew selects...RB Jeremy McNichols GB (Boise State)
Bruce could definitely double down here with another 2nd round WR, but Scott thinks he evens out his 1st round depth with a RB. The Packers might be in need of a new RB with Eddie Lacy likely headed for free agency. McNichols would be a huge value at 1.10 in this scenario.

1.11. (Jeremy) Northern Cardinals selects...WR Juju Smith-Schuster NYJ (USC)
As stated earlier, the talent starts to thin out at this point in the 1st round. Northern doesn't need another WR, but will pick Juju. He's a better value than any RB available at this point.

1.12. (Scott) Juice Box Heroes selects...WR Dede Westbrook CHI (Oklahoma)
JBH found his franchise RB, now he needs help at WR. Westbrook is a dynamic play maker and could help the Bears offense right away.

-----------

Again, this mock draft will change throughout draft season, but it's a fun exercise. For now, the only certain is that Badgerhawks is on the clock...

2017 Mock Draft v1

Yup! It's that time of year again. The CRFL champion has been crowned (Kaneohe's 3rd title in the last 4 years) and now attention shifts to draft season. We saw the major impact rookies can have in a fantasy league, especially keeper leagues like the CRFL. Ezekiel Elliott, Jordan Howard, Michael Thomas, etc. Dynasty gems can be find throughout the draft.

In comparison to Huskerfan, Conquistadors will also go BPA, but for an entirely different reason. Connell is weak at both RB and WR, so taking the best talent available is ideal. That is clearly D'Onta Foreman at this point. Excellent value at 1.04.

1.05. Gem State Bruins selects...RB Christian McCaffrey OAK (Stanford)
In the 2016 CRFL Draft, the Bruins lucked into Corey Coleman falling farther than expected. A year later, the Bruins used Coleman to move up into this #5 slot in search of RB depth. Lucky for the Bruins, a 1st round RB is still available at 1.05. McCaffrey could be a nightmare in the Raiders offense.

1.06. Huskerfan select...RB Alvin Kamara GB (Tennessee)
The 1st round haul continues for the Huskers. They took Williams at 1.03, so I'm guessing he would balance things out and draft a RB here. Kamara could be a fantasy star catching swing passes from Aaron Rodgers.

1.07. Brucey's crew...WR Corey Davis PIT (Western Michigan)
This is just my opinion, but Davis might be the best WR in this draft. Excellent value at this point, only dropping because owners will be afraid of him sharing touches with Antonio Brown.

1.08. Wind River Bison select...WR Juju Smith-Schuster SF (USC)
The Bison finally broke out! After years of being in the CRFL cellar, the 10-3 campaign came as a shocker. That said, after Doug Baldwin they still have a big hole at WR. They'll plug that hole by drafting the 49ers new franchise WR. Excellent pick at #8.

1.09. Range Lonestars selects...WR John Ross DAL (Washington)
The Lonestars, while finishing at 5-8, have rebuilt this poor roster in a very short time. A 2017 breakout is in store for this team, and their depth only gets bolstered by having two 1st round picks. They kick off using that asset on Ross, who has big play potential in a Brandin Cooks type role.

1.10. Brucey's crew selects...RB Samaje Perine MIN (Oklahoma)
Bruce could definitely double down here with another 2nd round WR, but I think he evens out his 1st round depth with a RB. Perine would be the heir to Adrian Peterson in a run-first offense. Worthy of this pick, even as a 3rd round product.

1.11. Range Lonestars selects...QB Mitch Trubisky SF (North Carolina)
A big reason the Lonestars might take off in 2017 is because of the off-season addition of Tom Brady. That said, Tom Terrific isn't getting any younger. Finding a fantasy heir would be smart.

1.12. Juice Box Heroes selects...WR Courtland Sutton ARI (SMU)
JBH found his franchise RB, now he needs help at WR. Sutton, in my opinion, gets the edge here over the other WRs because of his situation. Arizona airs it out effectively, and Larry Fitzgerald isn't getting any younger.
